Great Wedding Colors
Wedding Colors are an important choice for any bride. Some of you may have heard that Pantone anointed “Marsala” as the Color of the Year for 2015. The color gets its name from the wine, and it’s deep stylish tone can add a touch of elegance and class to any wedding. It’s going to be one of the most elegant colors for weddings this year.
I added a splash of Marsala to this stylized engagement shoot, and I think that it really adds to the Art Deco theme. Heidi’s shoes and her invitations and website prominently featured the color. I thought I would take the chance to share some of my favorite colors from Pantone’s past winners. Hopefully, some of these choices speak to you and help you find a color scheme that looks absolutely stunning.
1. Tangerine Tango
Tangerine Tango is a color that speaks to the fun bride’s summer wedding. It works fantastically with shades of pink to create a fun memorable look. Also, there are so many flowers that look absolutely stunning in this color!
Recommended season: Summer, Early Fall

Honeysuckle was Pantone’s 2011 color of the year, and is a beautiful shade of pink. It’s perfect for spring weddings and works fantastically with light shades of blue like Robin’s Egg. Most importantly, Honeysuckle marries the classic look of a pink with a slightly modern edge.
Recommended Season: Spring, Summer
Goes Great With These Wedding Colors: Light Blue, Beige, Light Green, Cream, Gold
2010’s color of the year is a classic that has been a staple of weddings for years. Turquoise is one my favorite shades of blue, and works fantastically with yellow hues. Wedding colors need to evoke a sort of happiness and joy, and turquoise does a fantastic job of that.
Recommended Season: Spring and Summer
Goes Great With These Wedding Colors: Pink, Yellow, Orange, Purple, Gold
Nothing says July and August better than Mimosa, as it perfectly captures the late summer months and long summer days. Mimosa’s strength is that it is so vibrant and lively. It’s perfect for the bride who wants a wedding color scheme that will stand out while staying classy. Combine it with some lighter shades of yellow and some sharp shades of green for maximum effect.
Recommended Season: Late Summer/Early Autumn
Goes Great With These Wedding Colors: Green, Navy, Other Yellow Shades, Light Shades of Blue
5. Sand Dollar
Ladies, It’s not just beige! The name beige screams a secondary color, but Pantone’s 2006 Color of the Year can clearly stand on it’s own. Sand Dollar will look fantastic on your bridesmaids, goes seamlessly with white and silver, and can be used year round! It’s such a classic and timeless look that you will never regret.
Recommended Season: Anytime, but especially winter.
